Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375) is thought to have been born in Tuscany. He started out in law and then turned to writing. He chose to begin to study law because it gave him an opportunity to study in different parts of the world and meet many fascinating people. Boccaccio worked with Italian Humanism and the Florentine government. He wrote all different types of literature from poems and tales to biograhies. He went on missions for different people to obtain information with his involvement in the government, but after almost being caught he decided to resign from those duties. After several years he started taking on diplomatic adventures again. Later in his life, his writing style changed due to illness and the disapointment of love in his life.
